Microsoft follows Intel and Apple, and reports impressive numbers for the last fiscal quarter. Microsoft reported record revenue of $62.48 billion and net income of $18.76 billion during the last quarter, an increase of 18% and 29% respectively.

Microsoft says that the record high quarterly income is a direct result of the successful operating system Windows 7. Microsoft has sold more than 175 million licenses for the new operating system. A successful launch of Office 2010 and continued improvements with the search engine Bing and video game console Xbox contributed to the nice numbers.

The quarter ended on June 30th, and all numbers were about 50% higher than the same period last year, which was slightly better than some analyst expectations.

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2010, Microsoft reported record revenue of $62.48 billion, a 7% increase from the prior year. Operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the year were $24.10 billion, $18.76 billion and $2.10, which represented increases of 18%, 29% and 30%, respectively, when compared with the prior year.
