Micron took the lead with the RealSSD series and its impressive performance, truly using the SATA 6.0 interface. The company has now launched the business model called P300 sporting SLC NAND memory circuits.

Micron RealSSD P300 comes with 256MB DRAM cache and SATA 6.0 Gbps, but just the fact it has switched to faster Single-level cell NAND memory circuits means that it can increase the performance and lifespan of the drive. The top model with 200GB storage capacity can write up to 3.5 Petabyte before throwing in the towel.

Micron uses 34nm SLC NAND circuits, applying to the ONFI 2.1 specification, which makes the P300 capable of reaching read speeds of 360 MB/s and write speeds of 275 MB/s. More interestingly for the business users is that the drive also offers 60,000 IOPS with random reading 4K files, and 45,200 IOPS when writing random 4K files.

Micron RealSSD P300 is directly targeting server and workstations with capacities of 50GB, 100GB and 200GB. Mass production is slated to start in October.
