Mac Mini is Apple’s smallest computer which has made a reputation with its minimalistic measurements and clean design. Even if its small deisgn has many advantages it also has a few disadvantages. Perhaps the harddrive is the most obvious at a maximum of 80GB. The manufacturer MicroNet has resolved this issue and created an accessory, or partner, for the Mac Mini that goes by the name Minimate. The unit is by the design a clone of the Mac Mini which is only a good thing and if you look inside the box there is quite a lot of storage capacity.
Minimate’s primary function is to be an external storage unit for the Mac Mini and can easily be placed beneath the computer. The Minimate is connected via one USB2.0 and one Firewire-cable. Except 400GB of extra storage you get 4 extra USB2.0-ports and 3 Firewire-ports. Minimate is available in several versions with different capacity, the top model at 400GB costs $499 dollar, which actually sounds quite reasonable. More storage for the Mac Mini-owners in other terms!
