The launch of Mac mini was an important such for Apple and the system’s size resulted in many positive judgments. Unfortuantely there were some complaints and hopes for more. Mac mini was to many a good option for an HTPC, alas it lacked some relevant sound outputs and similar, but was really missed by many was an integrated support for iPod. The ability to just place the iPod in a small dock directly on the Mac mini would make many happy. Apple had plans for such a docking station, but the plans was cancelled just before the launch. Apparently history does repeat itself as it has now happened again and analysts have been thinking about what could be the reason for Apple’s decision. Money and design complications are at the top of the list.
