LG is the company behind Apple’s praised Retina display and the company has a new series of IPS panels that once again focus on resolution. Among them we find a 4.5″ panel with 720×1280 pixel resolution for a pixel density of 329 ppi, and would be well fitting for future smartphones.

The displays are slated to appear in future phones and tablets from LG. The new 4.5″ AH-IPS panel (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) will offer a pixel density of 329 ppi and 720×1280 pixel resolution.

The pixel density isn’t as high as Toshiba’s 4″ screen with the same resolution, but is on par with the LG Retina display found in Apple iPhone 4.

Besides High Resolution mini screens LG also presented larger AH-IPS panels up to 84″ where it continued to show high resolutions and pixel densities. For example it had a 55″ panel with 80 ppi, which would be Quad Full HD at 3840×2160 pixels. The same resolution the 84″ panel could boast.

LG continues to raise the bar in the panel industry and now the big question is when these are found in the retail channel.
