AMD recently acquired ATI. That this would result in a shortage for the Intel platform is something many considered a given. This was more or less denied by ATI, but now DigiTimes reports that motherboard manufacturers are moving their focus from trying to develop ATI-based Intel motherboards to developing AMD motherboards with circuits from ATI. DigiTimes says that we might even see a total stop of development of the Intel-ATI combination. A lot of this is suppose to be because of a shortage of circuits, specifically ATI’s new southbridge SB600. Whether this is the end of Intel motherboards with ATI’s chipsets or not remains to be seen, but few will be surprised if this turns out to be the case
