Lenovo ThinkPad W700 probably is one of the beefiest laptops we’ve ever encountered. With a 17″ display it’s no secret that W700 would be an alternative for those working with graphics. This is further emphasized by two unique features, at least for a laptop. Namely an integrated Wacom digitizer (digital drawing tablet) and a color calibration unit. To make it fast enough, Lenovo has installed an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, first time in a laptop. There is no information on exactly which model, but you should be able to count on it being enough and then some.

As if that wasn’t enough, Lenovo is the first company to throw NVIDIA’s Quadro FX 3700 graphics circuit with 1GB memory into the game. There is room for up to 8GB RAM, dual harddrives in various RAID configurations and an optional Blu-ray burner. Prices start at around $3,000, but the final tab will most likely be a lot higher for those who want only the best.

”The ThinkPad W700’s 17-inch display has a resolution of 1920×1200 (WUXGA) and is extremely bright (400-nit). Combined with the Wacom digitizer and color calibrator, the W700 may just be the perfect workstation for engineers, photographers and design professionals. Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700 isn’t the slimmest 17-inch notebook, but it’s packed with so many features that users won’t have to lug around a single accessory except for an AC adapter.”

Notebook.com has published videos showing how the Wacom tablet and color calibration works.
