Lenovo is currently the secodn largest PC builder on the market, after HP, but it is aiming higher. Lenovo has intentions of becoming the world’s largest PC builder in 2012 with an extra focus on the EMEA region and North America.

Lenovo shipped 13.01 million computers in Q4 2011, which gave them second place with 14.04 percent market shares. This is a significant boost since Q4 2010 when Lenovo onlyd had 10.25 percent. HP is still the largest with 15.12 million computers and 16.13 percent of the market.

Much of the focus has been on China where demand has increased substantially for home electronics, which is reflecte in the numbers preseted by Lenovo. To become number on in 2012 it has tp make a big bet on other markets. Former Acer VP, Gianfranco Lanci, currently employed at Lenovo is responsible for marketing in the EMEA region: Europe, Africa and the Middle-East.

In North America Lenovo only has 5 percent of the market, and hopes to get to 10 percent in 2012. To get there it has set up a delivery chain with approximately 4,000 retail stores. While global PC builders expect sales to drop in the first month with 10 – 15 percent compared to December 2011, Lenovo expects a boost of 5 – 8 percent.
