Our components require more and more energy and cooling. The technology with heatsinks and fans has been ”standing still” for some time, but license company RotoSub looks to have the answer to the future of electronics cooling?

We can’t really do that much with the properties copper and aluminum has, and while there are more conductive material they are not as cost efficient and would never work in retail. The solution for better cooling is often bigger heatsinks, with more heatpipes, and larger and faster fans.

The problem with this is that the fans have a tendency to make a lot of noise as they spin faster and move more air. RotoSub looks to have a solution to this with a technology that enable fans to silence themselves.

We hear the fan in the tunnel quiet clearly, it makes more noise than any decent being would tolerate. When the technology becomes active the fan goes silent beside the noise of air moving around.

A band inside the fan emits ”anti-noise”?

RotoSub did not want to go inte detail since it is a company that license technology to other companies, but judgin from what we ”hear” the band emits an ”anti-noise”, a sound frequency that cancels out the noise from the fan, a similar technology is used in headphones and to treat tinnitus. If the technology is the revolution we have been waiting for, which should please air cooling users, or not we can’t say for certain, but it is sure a nice step forward.
