Even if AMD has every reason to boast about high frequencies it is still Intel the choice for the people looking to break new ground with 3DMark Vantage. Overclockers Kingpin and Shamino spent a couple of days together to push Intel’s Core i7 processor and NVIDIA’s recently launched dual-GPU graphics card GeForce GTX 295 to new heights. In Kingpin’s new overclocking haven with 860 liters of liquid nitrogen at their disposal they had every chance of accomplishing something great, and they did.
They used motherboard and graphics cards from EVGA, which wasn’t exactly surprising since Peter ”Shamino” Tan has taken over as the head man for the development of EVGA X58 SLI Classified.

It ended with a slaughter of the current 3DMark Vantage world records and with processor speeds up to 5.2GHz the new EVGA motherboard looked to play well with the Core i7 Extreme 965 processor. Kingston’s DDR3 memories was operating at more than 2100MHz at quite tight timings (8-7-7-21).
The perhaps most impressive score of the bunch is the result in 3DMark Vantage Performance that landed on P40398. This was made possible by the two GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards modified for higher voltages and properly cooled by Kingpin’s new Tek9 v4.0 Slim pots.
The clock frequencies stopped at 1045MHz GPU (stock clock is 576Mhz!), 1252MHz memory clock and 2090MHz with the shaders. A Quad SLI setup with no equivalents.
Kingpin and Shamino has also posted several other world records, including Vantage Entry (E71819) and Vantage Extreme (P24420).
Alas, the drivers haven’t been verified and can’t be uploaded to Futuremark’s Online Result Browser, but you can follow the escapades over at XtremeSystems where they have more results and tons of pictures.
