Intel might launch the Clarkdale processor as soon as the fourth quarter this year, but it might take until 2010 if we’re unlucky. As the first processor with an integrated graphics circuit many are curious to see how Clarkdale performs. That Clarkdale’s graphics circuit will be more powerful than Intel’s current IGP solutions feels like a given, but the question is how powerful it will be. The closest thing that we have to an answer is from when Intel discussed the HD functionality of Clarkdale, which means that the graphics circuit is powerful enough to play High Definition video signals.

In all honesty that feels like the bare minimum requirements in 2009 and even if it doesn’t say if they were talking about 720p video or full HD, as in 1080p, we can’t imagine anything but the latter was the format they were talking about. Anything else would just be immensely sad. Alas, there won’t be any revolutionizing performance gains with the integrated graphics circuit since it is based on the same architecture used in today’s GMA circuits.
