Intel has just debuted its 65nm manufacturing process by launching among others Core Duo and the Pentium D 900 series. The problems with the 90nm technology are gone and Intel seems to have gained some confidence. Intel’s D1D fabrik in Oregon is namely about to develop a working 45nm manufacturing process, the work has gone so far that Intel has announced that it has manufactured what seems to the first working samples of 45nm SRAM chip. The SRAM chip (Static Random Access Memory) is nothing but a demonstration to show how far Intel has reached with its new process but it is still very impressive. Full scale production of 300mm wafers with 45nm technology is expected to begin during 2007.
