Intel’s cheapest chipsets are at the moment i865 and i915PL/GL, but both will be phaed out during the fourth quarter of 2005. At least this is what information DigiTimes has published states. This means that Intel will retract from the low end segment. This will of course leafve more room for other manufacturers that are offering low end solutions such as ATI, VIA, SiS and ULi. But it sounds a bit doubtful that Intel would actually do such a thing. Most likely they are going to replace these with some other chipset(s).
