Intel will launch the first update of the top models of the Sandy Bridge family in Q4. Intel Core i7-2700K will be the new king of the hill and now motherboard manufacturer Biostar confirms what we have suspected, that the processor will be clocked at 3.5 GHz and be rated 95 watt TDP.

Intel is sticking to it launch schedule for Sandy Bridge – where a bump of 100 in the product name is reflected in the clock frequency. The current flagship Core i7-2600K operates at 3.4 GHz and will be playing second chair behind Core i7-2700K.

Other than that the new processor will sport four cores and Intel HyperThreading. A total cache of 8MB and most likely the same Intel HD Graphics 3000 as before.

2700k

The socket is of course Intel LGA1155 and the price should be on the same level as Core i7-2600K is today. This should bring a price cut of Core i7-2600K, but exacly how much we don’t know today.
