Small preview imageIntel vPro is the third platform from Intel since it introduced its mobile Centrino platform and the last year we saw the multimedia platform Viiv. vPro is the first platform for the business market by Intel and looking at Centrino we can understand it has high hopes for the new vPro platform. The focus with vPro is increased security, lower costs and power efficient while high performing. Just as earlier platforms these are guidelines for what hardware that will be used by systems branded with vPro; chipsets, processors and networking equipment. The core of vPro is Intel’s coming processor architecture Core that tends for optimal performance at low power consumption.

”Intel vPro technology also includes the second-generation of Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) and Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT). Intel VT will be integrated into the dual-core processor while the next-generation Intel AMT will be integrated into the new platform chipset. These hardware innovations, when combined with industry-enabled software solutions, represent the superior manageability and strengthened security behind the Intel vPro brand.”

Intel has made an obvious attempt to tie up company customers and even if vPro itself isn’t unique Intel seems to have created a good platform and considering the success of Centrino, vPro could be really useful to Intel but this time it’s covering the desktop market.
