HP has after a number of batteries run hot and caught fire recalled 135,000 batteries for its laptops. Th affected series are HP Pavilion, HP/Compaq Presario and Evo. It all comes back to a circuit shortening inside the battery that in turn makes it overheat, melt and finally become a danger to the environment. This isn’t all that uncommon though as companies ”often” have to retract products, batteries or power adaptors, because of overheating issues. E.g. Compaq has had these problems before, but also Xbox and PS2 have had these problems.
