HP has announced a new series of LCD HDTVs and except from nice specifications, such as 1080p resolution and 6ms response time, it has been able to squeeze in an extra nice function. It has namely integrated support for Windows Vista Media Center Extender, which simply means that you can get Media Center functionality directly in your TV if you connect it to a Media Center PC. Today it’s more or less just Xbox 360 that supports this, for those who are interested in gaining Media Center functionality in more rooms than that one where the Media Center PC is placed, but as the support has been integrated directly in the TV it makes it all a lot easier to handle.

”Since you will no doubt want to connect this to your network it includes integrated Ethernet and 802.11 a/b/g/n. Like many other new sets this year it has 3 HDMI ports and of course an integrated ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner, but no CableCARD.”

We can see a great potential in HDTVs with an integrated support for Media Center Extender and hope that HP will succeed with its solution. At the same time, we’re eager to see what this extra feature will cost and how the competition will react.
