Google hunting new four-way motherboards

Google is having conversation with the three biggest motherboard manufacturers in Taiwan; ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI, regarding deliveries of 4-way server motherboards. Google has recently secured orders from Gigabyte for server motherboards but that seems to be far from enough. According to DigiTimes Gigabyte is already shipping 30 000 server motherboards a month to Google, but if these boards are used with servers that handles Google’s internal business, or if they are used to power the company’s Google Search Appliance system is uncertain. Anyhow, Google isn’t just software, there is a lot of hardware involved powering everything.
