Small preview imageGigabyte has been showing off some really unique products both on the mainboard and graphic card side. At HKEPC they’ve written a preview of a very interesting mainboard; Gigabyte GA-G1975X, where Gigabyte has chosen to used a mystical cooling system for the power circuits on the mainboard. What is perhaps even more interesting than these ”wind tunnels” is that the mainboard is based on the Intel 975X-chipset. This chipset hasn’t been launched yet and won’t arrive until next year. The chipset will support today’s Pentium-processor, but also Conroe which is based on the completely new processor architecture Intel will launch during the second quarter of 2006.

In other terms the 975X-chipset will be active for a long period of time and as the name reveals it is the sequel to today’s high end chipset Intel 955X. Gigabyte seems to be one of the first to make a mainboard with the new chipset and it has taken the opportunity to design the board with a unique look. You can’t complain about the card’s features with support for 1066MHz processor bus, 8GB DDR2-667 memory and both SLI abd CrossFire through two PCI Express 8x slots.
