NVIDIA have caught up with reality and is planning to launch two new cards in the near future. New rumors suggest that the mid-range card GeForce GTX 550 Ti will launch on March 15th and that the card will sport the new GF116 GPU. A card costing 170€ that could replace GTX 460.

GeForce GTX 550 Ti will pair the GF116 GPU with 128-bit memory interface and 1GB GDDR5 memory. The card will get 4-phase power supply – three for the GPU and one for the memory. The GF116 GPU has been reworked with new more efficient transistors and other optimizations. Exactly how many CUDA cores that will active is uncertain.

The PCB will be similar to GeForce GTX 450, but performance will be on par with the praised GeForce GTX 460. GeForce GTX 550 Ti will have a max power consumption of 110 watt and is expected to get the same cooler as GeForce GTS 450, which consumes up to 106 watt.

GeForce GTX 550 Ti comes with dual DVI-I ports and one mini-HDMI port, and the launch is set for March 15th.
