As expected Futuremark has removed the impressive 3DMark Vantage scores that were published earlier last week. The results that were published anonymously, but could be traced back to overclocker Andre Yang, was done on Intel’s coming hexa-core CPU, Core i7 980X, also known as Gulftown.

Futuremark doesn’t allow results with not yet released processors and even if it took a few days the results have now been removed from the top lists.

The forbidden test system that broke all those records

We are still waiting for a statement from Futuremark regarding publishing results on the ORB with unreleased hardware. Readers have sent in questions wondering exactly where they draw the line.

We will follow up with more information if we receive a comment from Futuremark. At the same time we have received word from Intel that will be acting harder on the spread of its products, all to stop the information leaks that have been plaguing the manufacturer for many years.
