Fujitsu is the first manufacturer to launch a 2.5″ harddrive with a 200GB storage capacity through its Fujitsu MHV2200BT. We earlier reported that 200GB 2.5″ harddrives are expected to arrive during the first half of 2006, but that it would be already is a bit surprising. Fujitsu’s 200GB harddrive has the capacity, but when it comes to the performance things are not as impressive. MHV2200BT use the SATA interface and spin at 4200 RPM, not optimal for the performance but the power consumption is according to Fujitsu the best you can find in this segment with 1.6W at read or write. Right now we’re waiting for more manufacturerss to follow Fujitsu’s example and launch its own 200GB models.
