Gnome 2.22 just entered beta stage and the final release is slated for March 12. This update will bring a couple of quite interesting changes. The Gnome web browser Epiphany will be able to use the WebKit (derived from KHTML) rendering engine, instead of Gecko (same as Firefox). The document viewer Evince has been updated with page transition effects and tags. The Apple Photo Booth-inspired application Cheese let you take pictures with your web camera and manipulate them with fancy effects.

Gnome has finally decided to include Vinagre, a VNC client, which has showed much promise. You can find more about these and the other updates over at Phoronix.
