DFI has announced its very latest motherboard, the LANParty LT X48-T3R. For once, DFI is actually ready to launch a motherboard before the chipset manufacturer has released the chipset in question. Whether this is because DFI has been working harder then ever before or because Intel has been postponing the launch of the X48 chipset numerous times, remains unclear. What we do know, is that DFI is ready to launch the LANParty LT X48-T3R.

Sporting the X48 chipset, it supports Intel’s latest 45nm quad-core processors and AMD’s CrossFireX technology, with up to three cards working together. DFI has chosen to bless the LANParty LT X48-T3R with DDR3-1333 support (no sight of a DDR2 version), but we assume that it has Intel XMP support, which means DDR31600 support, single channel. Intel X48 also supports the 1600MHz FSB used by its Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 processor.

Volterra 8-phase Digital PWM and Japanese high-end solid state aluminum capacitors should prove good enough even for the most extreme overclockers. Also, DFI says that the LANParty LT X48-T3R has the most elaborate BIOS ever made by DFI. It seems that DFI has also chosen to use Thermalright’s chipset and mosfet coolers to keep the crucial components really cool.

Other than that, its has 8 SATA ports, RAID 0/ 1/ 0+1/ 5, dual GB Ethernet ports, and 8 channel HD audio. CMOS Reloaded Technology, EZ switches and debug LED for when you’re machine refuses to boot, should all help to make the overclocking experience even better.

Update: DFI has informed us that the motherboard will use the ICH9R southbridge and not ICH10.

The motherboard is due next month, or whenever Intel decides it’s time to launch X48.
