Back in January we reported about Dell’s latest LCD monitor concept, which has to be considered one of the cleanest and most stylish designs we’ve ever encountered. It seems that Dell is still using this LCD monitor for demos, but not as a sample of what is about to come, but to show the advantages of the DisplayPort interface. DisplayPort is namely what has made it possible to design this LCD monitor, and other monitors in ways that wasn’t possible before. DisplayPort can handle everything from high definition video signals to regular audio signals, microphone sound, etc.

It’s also possible to do without a lot of the electronics used for converting the video signals in the monitors, which in turn makes it possible to slim down the monitors even further. It also means that it would be possible to manufacture even slimmer laptops.
