Dell has lost ground on the PC market over the last couple of years, but is trying to show initiative. The PC builder is said to be in talks with Google about using Chrome OS with its coming notebooks. An operating system that has been rather quiet lately, otherwise.

Chrome OS is getting hotter now that the search engine giant is discussing the future with the world’s third largest PC builder and even there is no official statement the talks have supposedly gone a long way.

-We have to have a point of view on the industry and technology direction two years, three years down the road, so we continuously work with Google on this, commented Amit Midha, VP of Dell China and Southeast Asia

Google is planning to launch Chrome OS by Fall, but no date has been given.

Dell is going out large with more notebooks, but also a continued research in mobile phones and also has a tablet in the pipeline, called Streak. The launch of Dell Streak is slated for July in USA and in China by the end of the year, sporting Android 2.2 and Flash 10.1. Europe launch uncertain at this time.
