Digital Rights Management is a reoccurring topic and it’s not that hard to understand why when you think about how much money and time the music, movie, software industry, etc. spend on protecting their materials. According to a recently published study made by Insight Research, this will increase at a steady rate the coming years. Over the five years to come the entertainment industry, software sector and the rest will spend more than $9 billion developing software and hardware protecting their information and materials. At the end of 2007 up to $1 billion will have been spent. The report adds a short comment on the use of DRM where the protection seems to be focusing more and more on protecting the material and the rights of the owner, instead of putting the focus on the end-users.
