Small preview imageWe recently reported about false Pentium M processors circulating in China. Then it was engineering samples from Intel which was not intended for sale, these had been rebranded as consumer samples and sold at a nice profit. Now it seems that the next processor fraud is on the way of reaching its conclusion in China. According to an Israelie site it is namely a Chinese company that is selling phony Pentium 4 processors on the Internet. Alas the company is rebranding Celeron processors as Pentium 4 and selling them.

Unfortunately it seems like the company is selling the processors as packages with motherboards to other dealers as it actually states that the processors are Celeron processors that ahve been rebranded on its site. A patch will also make it possible to trick both BIOS and Windows to register the processor as a Pentium 4. We are guessing that Intel aren’t exactly thrilled about this.
