Intel has already started to ship Pentiums built with the new 65nm process and now it seems that also Celeron D will be granted access to the new manufacturing technology. The perhaps most noticeable difference, except from the obvious new process, is that these will be shipped with twice as much L2 cache, I.e. 512KB instead for the meager 256KB that today’s Prescott based Celerons have. Like the previous they will have a 533MHz bus and 64bit support, but that hasn’t really impressed anyone so far. It is going to be interesting to see whether the new Cedar Mill core can restore some of the lost glory and respect that Celeron once had.
