ATI Radeon X1900 arrived earlier last month, but as it has turned out the drivers that was sent out was far from optimized for the new architecture, but more of a hack of the ”old” Catalyst 5.13. Now some new beta drivers of Catalyst 6.2 has leaked though and these have proper support for the new cards. It seems there were more than a little to optimize as the new drivers offers almost 10% better performance with the synthetic tests we see over at Chilehardware, which should mean there are more to get from ATI’s new architecture than we earlier thought.
