BTX is probably one of the most desperate solutions we’ve seen the last couple of years. Intel more or less had to come up with a new standard because of the extreme heat it’s new Pentium 4 core Prescott dissipated. The problem is that practically no one was interested in using this new standard besides Intel, neither motherboard- nor chassi manufacturers. Anywho it seems that the standard has managed to hang in there, not perhaps because Intel has been chewing the companies ears off but because it maybe isn’t such a bad idea after all. BTX has some clear advantages over ATX especially when it comes to the cooling, but since AMD is completely uninterested in this standard the best possible situation is a coexistence with ATX and BTX.
