BenQ is one of the most active monitor manufacturers and it now claims to be first to have a monitor combining Vertical Alignment panels with LED backlighting for low power consumption and wide viewing angles.

VA-based LCD panels offers effective viewing angles of 178º/178º and maintains correct colors and brightness better than regular TN panels from wide angles.

VA LED-based panels has better color reproduction, an ultra high contrast ratio, display blacks more accurately because of its capability to produce true black with zero bright dot (ZBD) and able to minimize light leakage. To display blacks more accurately means these VA LED-based panels have better contrast and detail in dark-coloured movie scenes.

BenQ begins its venture with VA LED monitors with three new models of the EW and VW families. Two 24″ models, EW2420 and VW2420(H), and one 21.5″ model, VW2220(H). The monitors sport 8-bit panels and have both HDMI 1.3 and DVI inputs for digital video signals. The contrast ratio is set to 3,000:1.

The EW models expands this with one extra HDMI input, 4-port USB hub and 1.5 watt stereo speakers.

BenQ EW2420 and VW2420(H) will become available in Taiwan by the middle of July and August. BenQ VW2220(H) is expected to appear by November, but when they will reach outside of Taiwan is uncertain.
