ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 (R680) pixelated

We’ve been telling you there are R680 cards up and running and during the recent launch events, AMD decided to show the press that there really are fully functional cards ready to be launched soon (January). The cards are approximately 25 cm long (about the same as a GeForce 8800 GTX or Ultra) and actually even smaller than we first thought. If we do some easy ATI math it should have about the same power requirements as Radeon HD 2900 XT (RV670 consumes less than half of what R600 does). The cooler is one big piece of copper and heatpipes and is enough to keep the two chips at bay. Below is a picture taken by the people over at Legitreviews;
