ASUS is working to broaden its assortment of mini-ITX solutions. The most interesting solution for HTPC systems today. The company is now said to be working on a model using the mobile AMD’s Fusion Ontario APU with integrated DirectX 11 graphics circuit.

AMD earlier revealed that it has moved up the launch of the mobile Fusion family Ontario to Q4 2010 and beside notebooks we expect to see the new GPU-endowed CPUs in many mini-PCs.

ASUS has presented some really interesting HTPC soultions in the mini-ITX format, not the least the ASUS AT3IonT-I Deluxe. We are therefore very excited to see what it can do with the mobile Ontario platform in its mini-ITX solutions.

The few benchmarks available with Ontario points to nearly twice the performance of Intel’s dual-core Atom D525 CPU and then we haven’t even begun to discuss the integrated DirectX 11 GPU and as expected it will not only enable playback of HD video but even performance for an enjoyable gaming experience.

The processor is expected to consume more power than Intel’s Atom but still be a lot more efficient than most competing products used on the HTPC market and we look foward to hearing more about this.
