ASUS has launched another model of the Republic of Gamers armada and this time it is the Socket AM3 platform that gets reinforcement. ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme is built around the AMD890FX chipset and comes with a load of features. Not the least the possibility to connect a variety of graphics cards through an integrated Hydra bridge chip.
ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme chips with CrossLinx 3 technology, which simply means it has an integrated HydraLogix bridge chip from Lucid. A circuit that enables users to connect any two graphics cards, no matter model or maker, in multi-GPU configurations for better performance.
On Crosshair IV Extreme, a unique layout design features a total of five PCI Express expansion slots. Two provide dedicated native graphics card support for either a single GPU or two in CrossFire configuration. The additional three feature Lucid HYDRALOGIX and CrossLinx 3 technologies, which enable a mixture of graphics cards from different vendors and generations, with a total of four detectable and working at once.
As usual with a board of the ROG family Crosshair IV Extreme has plenty of functionality for better overclocking. This includes RC Bluetooth that lets you overclock from your laptop or iPhone. And a powerful 10+2 phase power supply, USB 3.0 and SATA 6,0 Gbps to add. The motherboard supports all current AMD Socket AM3 processors, including the hexa-core models of the Phenom II X6 series.
