Motherboard giant ASUS has presented a new patented technology called Disk Unlocker that enables users to use harddrives with more than 2.2TB capacity on all ASUS motherboards, by simply unlocking the data Windows can’t access.
ASUS Drive Unlocker is a tiny application that can be downloaded from the company website and will work on all ASUS motherboards, which should mean the software will work with all motherboards with some minor modifications.
If this will happen is uncertain, since ASUS has applied for patent for the new software solution and in this way it could be one of few that without new hardware can support the new 2.5TB and 3,0TB harddrives.
Exactly how Drive Unlocker works was not revealed, but it looks like a convenient solution for those who wants to start building up its storage space with bigger harddrives today already.
