A Mobile Internet Device, also known as MID, is a mix between a mobile phone and a notebook. Focus the focus is on Internet access and online information in a convenient and simple manner. The concept that was created by Intel in 2007 is still to gain any momentum but as the hardware platform matures things may change. Ironically it looks like Intel will lose its dominance on the MID market at the same time.

According to recent studies the MID market of 2009 used 90% x86 processors, but this will swing over in ARM’s favor over the next couple of years.
