Apple has finally decided to launch the updated version of its laptop series MacBook Pro. Apple launched MacBook Pro in January, 2006, and was the first computer from Apple to use an Intel processor. Since then it has also launched a MacBook series with Core Duo processors, but now it’s time for an upgrade. We’ve already seen iMacs with Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors and now Apple has chosen to do the same to its portable series. MacBook Pro is once again the first to appear, as the flagship it is, and Apple has launched two new models with a 2.13GHz and a 2.33GHz processor.

Except from the fact that the processor is the newer Core 2 Duo (Merom) architecture not much have changed with MacBook Pro. Some nicer harddrives and added support for FireWire 800, but other than that the processor is the big news. The really good news with all of this is that the prices will remain the same as the previous Core Duo-based models.

The introduction model with a 2.16GHz processor and 15.4″ display costs $1.999 with 1GB DDR2 memory and 120GB harddrive. It is also available with the faster 2.33GHz processor, the same 15.4″ display but 2GB RAM. The same harddrive and graphics circuit, Mobility Radeon X1600, as the introduction model, but the price is $2,499.
The top model comes with a 17″ display, 2GB RAM and 160GB harddrive and costs $2,799.
