Apple Mac mini has just as expected been launched in a new version and the big news is that Apple has transfered to Intel’s processor platform with Core Solo and Core Duo processors. Except for a more powerful processor, that according to Apple will make the new Mac mini up to four times faster than the predecessor, there is support for WiFi 802.11g, Bluetooth and other neat features. The top model uses a Core Duo T2300 processor at 1.67GHz while the introduction model has to suffice with a Core Solo processor at 1.5GHz. Both systems has 512MB DDR2-667 ram, support for Gigabit Ethernet and a DVI output controlled by Intel’s integrated GMA950 graphics circuit.

Apple has clearly focused on making Mac mini more Media Center-friendly, which is something that many complained about when it comes to the previous models of Mac mini. Apple has added an optical digital sound output and ships Mac mini with Apple’s ”Media Center software” Front Row and remote. A software that has been updated with support for iTunes and a photo archive via Bonjour.

Apple charges $599 for the introduction model with a 1.5Ghz Core Solo processor while the top model with a Core Duo processor at 1.66GHz costs $799.
