AMD has plans to expand the Fusion family with a new APU designed for the growing tablet market. The new APU is code-named Desna is said bring ”the ultimate HD solution” with AMD’s APU technology.

Krishna replace Zacate and Ontario, while Wichita will become a 3W APU for tablets and cheap netbooks

AMD has a specially developed C-50 APU for tablets, at only 5W TDP unlike the ordinary C-50 with 9W TDP, but it doesn’t show it that much even though it can play and stream 1080p material, and big brother Zacate E-350 is rated 18W TDP, which is just way too high for tablets.

AMD has earleir said that 3W is the limit for APUs that can be used in tablets and according to Fudzilla Desna will go up against Oak Trail from Intel, which implies a launch in the near future since  Intel is about to bring in the new Cedar Trail later this year. The new APUs is based on 28nm technology, is expected to arrive early nexy uear and it will be interestering to see what AMD has done to live up to the bold statements.
