AMD has according to Mercury Research now a 20% share of the desktop based PC-processor market since the third quarter of 2005. This is  the first time since 2001 AMD has managed with such a task and while AMD acquired 20.4% of the market Intel managed to secure more or less the rest with 77.5%. The last few units was held by VIA. If you count the server and mobiel market AMD has to suffice with 17.8% while Intel climbs above 80%. Intel is in other terms still the unchallenged king of the hill, but AMD has increased its sales considerably more than Intel has on all three markets; notebook, desktop and server.
