AMD is planning on introducing barebone models of portable computers, by pairing chassi, motherboard, processor and sell these ”kits” to OEMs and smaller system builders. This will make it possible for smaller system builders as well to build more specific computers by their own demands thus making it possible to launch their own computers faster. AMD hopes this will give their mobile processors some more room on the market, which is having a tough time battling Intels popular Centrino-platform. Hopefully this will also result in a broader assortment for us consumers as well.
