AGEIA still has some things to solve before it will be able to conquer the PC market. Its external PPU (Physics Processing Unit) requires software support in games to be able to show what it can do and so far the support is quite meager. At the same time, ATI and NVIDIA has started to push for its physics solution which use regular graphics circuits. AGEIA has now presented some really good news as game developer Bioware, which is behind such games as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights, has announced support for the physics accelerator in its coming graphics engine.

Bioware will support PhysX with its coming Eclipse Engine and deliver the same popular games as before but this time spiced with better physics and this could turn out to be a very important deal to AGEIA. We’re looking forward to seeing PhysX in more action.
