It looks like Acer’s stylish Ferrari One netbook will not only be an example of AMD’s new Congo plat form and the new energy efficient Athlon X2 processor, but also get some assistance through AMD’s external graphics unit XGP. AMD launched the XPG module a year ago but we haven’t seen much of it since then. With a high profile PC like Acer Ferrari One as the main attraction 2009 could be the year for XGP.

Acer Ferrari One was presented last week when AMD launched its new mobile processor platform and ships with the ”special” XGP port and will appear on the market shortly.

AMD’s Congo platform ships with an integrated Radeon HD 3200 graphics processor, but those who need more can turn to the XGP unit. This could become even more interesting when AMD announces its coming mobile DirectX 11 circuits.
