Samsung which is one of the worlds largest memory manufacturers has announced that for the first time that it is now producing more DDR2 chip than regular DDR chip. This happend during July and the biggest increase was according to Samsung among the OEM-sales, which usually uses Intel’s platforms, the only that actually support DDR2 today. The increase for DDR2 is expected to continue and especially when AMD launches its Athlon 64-processors with DDR2 support. This is clearly a sign for that the maket has started to move away from the old but yet still very popular DDR-technology.
