ATI is currently working on a new version of its R580 graphics circuit; R580+, that will be made with a tuned manufacturing process, 80nm instead of 90nm. This makes it possible to make the new circuit smaller, which will pull down manufacturing costs but also make it possible to lower voltages or simply go for higher frequencies. Often you want the best of both worlds, I.e. a faster and more power efficient card, such as NVIDIA managed to do when moving from 110nm to 90nm with the 7900 series. ATI says it is going for a clock at 750MHz with R580+, 100MHz more than the 90nm R580 circuit.
