We reported back in November that NVIDIA had acquired circuit manufacturer PortalPlayer. PortalPlayer is best known for supplying Apple with the system circuits for its previous generation of iPods and will according to NVIDIA’s press release continue working with high-performance single-circuit solution for portable multimedia units. The goal of the acquisition is to strengthen its position on the mobile market, something both AMD/ATI and NVIDIA have shown a greater interest in lately.
