NVIDIA manufacture its 90nm G71 circuits at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), but we’ve reported earlier this week that the supply of NVIDIA’s latest circuits has been lower than the demand. Now it seems that NVIDIA has a solution to this, it has namely turned to TSMC’s main competitor, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), to make more 90nm G7x-based circuits. That is at least what DigiTimes states motherboard manufacturers in Taiwan has received information about. The first test units will be produced in May while the UMC will not ship the big volumes until the second half of 2006. Also ATI has earlier turned to UMC despite its deal with TSMC.
