Small preview imageIntel has decided that AMD should not get any more room than necessary; the presentation of the new processor architecture, in due good time before the actual launch and now it has chosen to cut prices to reduce AMD’s possibilities even further. Now that AMD has launched its mobile Turion 64 X2 processor with dula cores, but also energy efficient Athlon 64 processors Intel has decided to lower the prices of its mobile Core Duo processors on May 28. These are no ordinary cuts either, but quite substantial with three models that are affected.

New price (May 28):
Core Duo T2600
$637

$423
Core Duo T2500
$423

$294
Core Duo T2400
$294

$241

The price cuts doesn’t only make it harder for AMD to attract new customers, but also pave the way for Intel’s coming Merom processor (Core 2 Duo), which will replace Core Duo (Yonah) on the mobile market in August.

Intel will after the price cuts be considerably closer to AMD’s prices for its Turion 64 X2, which we reported about yesterday where the flagship, Turion 64 X2 TL-60 costs $354. The battle for the mobile market is hotter than ever.
