Socket AM2 is not expected to appear on the market until June 6, but already on May 15 system builders will be able to buy AMD’s latest creation to have their Socket AM2 systems up and running when the new socket is launched. The processor prices for system builders has now leaked and at DailyTech they’ve published a complete list of all Socket AM2 processors that are expected to come, and it is a long list. 15 different processors from AMD’s Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2 and Sempron series will be launched to begin with, but as usual the flagship is the Athlon 64 FX. The first FX processor for AM2 will be known as Athlon 64 FX-62 and has a SSBP price (Suggested System Builder Price) at $1236, which you can compare to Athlon 64 FX-60 that today cost $1031 PIB (Processor In a Box).

If we look at Athlon 64 X2 5000+, the new high-end model in the X2 series, it will cost $696, a little bit more than X2 4800+ for Socket 939 at $643. The AM2 model of X2 4800+ will cost 645$.

The price differences between today’s Athlon processors and the Socket AM2 based models seems to be rather small, but then the platform will most likely be a bit more expensive overall.
